Catty Coworkers

As a guy, usually catty female behavior doesn't come to my attention. It can get really hard to ignore, like when a thirty something coworker shoots her senior coworker dirty looks because said senior coworker doesn't feel comfortable driving and having a detailed, work-related conversation while driving. For heaven's sake, if she doesn't want to risk her life, your life, and my life by driving while talking on the phone, I wouldn't argue! Oh, and the banging your head against the headrest, yeah. . . that's REALLY professional.

We did find a rather nice liquor store, Total Wine here in Orlando on Colonial Drive/Boulevard. They have a really large selection of wines, and a pretty respectable selection of some lesser known beers. My plan for surviving the next week and then some is to keep a six pack in the fridge and a closed door between myself and my coworkers off the clock.

Today's bright note: the computer instructor for our partner agency was in today [he had called in yesterday]. Even better, the students enjoyed his class, he has a solid grip on the materials, and he has plenty of experience teaching visually impaired individuals!

I saved the best for last -- Beluga. Its a really nice restaurant over in the Winter Park Mall that has tons of seafod, lots of unique martinis [Renee would loooove it!] and some of the nicest waitstaff I've encountered. Usually, when eating out alone I get the "awww, poor guy couldn't get a date/doesn't have any friends" looks and/or behavior. Tico and the girls were nice, made me feel comfortable, and deserved every bit of the 20% tip. I had the Monthly Magical Dining Experience -- your choice of a limited menu for three courses. I went with the New England Style Clam Chowder -- a bit spicier than I'm used to, but very creamy and very delicious. The main course was "Oscar style" Idaho trout - a rather sizeable trout filet topped with a blue crab meat stuffing and a large helping of roasted garlic red skin mashed potatoes. Dessert was crème brûlée -- as I've never had crème brûlée before, I don't really have any benchmark for comparison, but if all crème brûlée is as good as this, I can't wait to have some more!
